Description

In ‘Return’ we see a maze of train tracks leading to Prague’s station, a drawing from a photograph that Rosalind took while travelling in Europe a few years ago. Even though the title suggests a come back, it could also be depicting a moment of departure, and the image manages to convey a sense of adventure, of living ‘on the move’. In typical Rosalind style, in ‘Return’ the industrial cityscape has been carefully drawn into a toile de jouy textile, provoking a beautiful contrast that manages to both soften and highlight the urban elements. The result is aesthetically puzzling but remarkably pleasing. It challenges us to find beauty in strange combinations, aligning traditional standards of fairness with rougher elements. ‘Return’ is an Archival Pigment Print on 315 gsm Cotton Rag paper. The edition of 25 hand numbered and embossed prints has been approved by the artist and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
