Spin Painting 24 is an excellent example of artist Mark Chadwick’s exploration of issues in technology and the use of machines in the production of art. For his fluid painting series, Mark continually experiments with the intersection of natural forces, machines, the artist’s creative process, and randomness by altering the technique by which he creates the work. By manipulating the order in which colors are added, the ability for gravity to impact the distribution of the paint, and other choices in the production process, Mark creates unique abstract works that distinctly capture the seemingly infinite reactions occurring in a machine-driven process.
