Yasuhiro Onishi series of small scale portraits are hugely striking despite their diminutive size. This piece, entitled Mr Marvel is a playful twist on the style of the old masters. The unnerving figure in this work, with his sunken, ghoulish eyes hints at both emulation and subtle mockery of traditional portraiture.
